New Post

‘The misery of nations is caused not by particular persons, but by the particular order of Society under which the people are so bound up together that they find themselves all in the power of a few men, or more often in the power of one single man: a man so perverted by his unnatural position as arbiter of the fate and lives of millions, that he is always in an unhealthy state, and always suffers more or less from a mania of self-aggrandisement.’
- Leo Tolstoy

In the present state of the world, and of the country, need we say more?

Dear Residents,

This September 7th and 8th, we present the screening of the entire 7-hour Sergei Bondarchuk magnum opus — WAR & PEACE. Split across two days, this film marathon will take place on the occasion of one of our favourite author, the great Leo Tolstoy’s 196th birthday, with Russian food, and discussion à la Red House afterwards!

Event Details:

September 7th | 5:00 PM - 9:30 PM | Rs 500 per ticket
Parts I & II: Andrei Bolkonsky and Natasha Rostova
— delicious Vareniki served in the interval.

The backdrop is the Napoleonic Wars, centering on Prince Andrei Bolkonsky, who, disillusioned with aristocratic life, seeks meaning in the military, while Pierre Bezukhov, an awkward but kind-hearted young man, grapples with his newfound fortune. Meanwhile, Natasha Rostova, a lively young girl, navigates the joys and heartbreaks of first love.

September 8th | 6:00 PM - 9:30 PM | Rs 500 per ticket
Parts III & IV: The Year 1812 and Pierre Bezukhov
— delectable Borscht served in the interval.
