New Post

Dear Residents,

As the rain falls and freedom echoes through the air, we invite you to unshackle something within. To speak. To see. To create. To become.

We’ve curated four intimate, beginner-friendly classes, each designed to help you reconnect with a different part of yourself. Some begin this weekend, and spots are very limited. Don’t wait!

School of Rock

A high-voltage ride through the raw, rebellious history of rock music — from its blues and gospel roots to the distortion-soaked revolutions of punk, pop, and grunge. We’ll listen, debate, and trace the cultural and sonic shifts that made rock a sound of resistance, desire, and youth.

About the facilitator:
Arjun Shivaji Jain is the director of Red House and long-time rock aficionado. He used to pay till his fingers bled everyday in university, and performed on numerous occasions publicly. His favourite band has to be Led Zeppelin; and he wields an ESP LTD F-10 paired with a VOX VT 40+ amp.

Our signature always-full-house workshop is now being turned into online regular classes which will be open internationally!! We’ll get to be exploring ALL of John Ruskin’s Elements of Drawing now! No matter your experience or inexperience in drawing, over a month of Ruskin’s lessons, you will learn how to see, and how to draw what you see, and then see again.

About the facilitator:
These Elements of Drawing classes will operate under the guidance of Arjun Shivaji Jain, Director of Red House, graduate of Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts, London, and former Young Companions' Representative of the Guild of St George, a charity in Sheffield established in 1871 by John Ruskin himself.

The Voice is the Body

Why join? Because your voice isn’t just sound — it’s sensation, memory, breath, and presence. Whether you’re a speaker, performer, or someone who’s never liked the sound of your own voice, this series helps you reconnect with it gently, through the body. You’ll learn to release tension, breathe with awareness, and discover a voice that feels natural, grounded, and fully your own.

About the facilitator:
The classes will be taught by Sharmishtha Samal, a Delhi-born vocalist and movement artist trained in opera, Indian classical music, and somatic practices, with a decade of international performance and teaching experience.

Mary Shelley 101

She is remembered as the woman who gave the world Frankenstein — but Mary Shelley’s own story is nearly as uncanny as the one she wrote. This four-part intimate and immersive series explores Mary Shelley’s life, legacy, and imagination — from her Gothic origins and the wildness of Romanticism to her lesser-known works, radical literary ideas, and writing practices that still unsettle and inspire.

About the Facilitator:
Simar Bhasin is a literary critic and doctoral researcher at Shiv Nadar Institution of Eminence. With over nine years of experience writing for major Indian publications, she recently earned a rare ‘Highly Commended’ citation in the Wasafiri Essay Prize 2024 for her work on Palestinian literature. Formerly an Assistant Professor at the University of Delhi, she holds advanced degrees in English and a journalism diploma. Her research spans transnational fiction, globalisation, and narrative theory.
