New post

Dear Residents,

As we step into the next phase of Red House, we find ourselves returning to questions of memory, reason, and making. This season’s programming reflects exactly that.

Below is what’s coming up in the days and weeks ahead.

A Walk Through Memory: The Partition Museum

Saturday, 31st January

On the 78th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination, we invite you to join fellow Red House Residents for a guided walk through the Partition Museum at the Dara Shukoh Library, followed by a joint discussion.

The conversation will explore lesser-known aspects of the Museum, refugee communities in Delhi, and personal histories of the Partition — including Salman Rushdie’s experience of it.

The discussion will be led by Chintan Gandhi, exhibition and museum designer, and an active voice working at the intersection of design, research, museum sustainability, and Gandhian thought. Fun fact: Chintan was also instrumental in mapping the route for our Director, Arjun Shivaji Jain’s 10-day retracing of the 1930 Dandi March in November 2024.

Fee: ₹350 per participant
(Museum entry ticket of ₹50 to be purchased separately)

Notes:
– The walk is beginner-friendly
– Red House team members will be present at the walk
– Meeting point will be shared after registration

Online One-on-One Classes in Mathematics, Logic & Clear Thinking

February–March | Online

These online classes are designed to introduce students — across grades and confidence levels — to mathematics not merely as a subject, but as a way of thinking clearly, reasoning honestly, and communicating precisely.

Through theory, discussion, exercises, and tests, students will be encouraged to become more disciplined and courageous navigators of an increasingly irrational world.

The classes will be conducted by Arjun Shivaji Jain, Director of Red House, graduate in Nuclear Physics from IIT Roorkee, former mathematics teacher at Step by Step School, Noida, recipient of multiple DST fellowships, and alumnus of Central Saint Martins (Art & Science).

Why this at Red House?
Our reinvention is rooted in a simple observation: logical clarity is disappearing from public life. We believe mathematics is as much a part of culture as art, literature, or film, and deserves to be nurtured with equal seriousness.

Details:
– Beginner-friendly
– Lesson plans and assignments provided
– Students may register for one or more sessions

Working With Your Hands: A Series of Practical Skill-Building Classes

January–March | At Red House

This series introduces participants to working with their hands, teaching them essential skills required to maintain, repair, and even build physical spaces. The classes will be guided by Arjun Shivaji Jain, who has personally designed and built both the Red House premises and his home in Chittaranjan Park.

Why this at Red House?
We believe reinvention is first and foremost physical. Manual labour, to us, is not secondary to intellectual work.
