1. Financial Literacy Classes

Artists and art institutions in India rarely talk about the financial aspect of the arts, and we wish to change this by empowering you with the knowledge and tools to take control of your finances, so that someday, your money works for you. This course that we’re beginning in February, aims at helping you develop the foundational skills for managing money for growth, understand the available financial instruments, and equip you to make informed financial decisions.

Instructor: Fellow Red House Resident, and an IIM Lucknow graduate, who has been working in the field of finance for 7 years.
When: Every Saturday (you can book one monthly pass at a time)
Time: 11am to 12.30pm

2. The Phoenix Programme

Continuing from January, these sessions will help you address the key issue of ‘Toxic Shame’ in your life, a concept fundamental to all addictive behaviour, of any kind - whether towards a substance, a human being, or an abstract idea. The methodology, used in this programme is one used by societies as well-regarded as ‘Alcoholics Anonymous’; and millions vouch for its efficacy.

The programme will be conducted in typical Red House fashion, and has been designed so you may be able join at any point of time. A brief overview in the form of readings is provided at the start of each new session to ensure that all participants are up to date and can following along seamlessly (without having attended any of the prior sessions).

3. Oil Painting Classes

Oil Paint: rich, creamy, luxurious — the pinnacle of art ! Masters like da Vinci, Van Gogh, Monet and Rembrandt perfected it. Wouldn’t you like to join them? If you’ve ever wanted to master oil painting, now’s your chance ! Join us this February at Red House to explore this timeless craft. From still lifes to portraits, we’ll guide you - no matter what your skill level !

Instructor: Bimal Sarkar, an MFA graduate from Shantiniketan, who brings over 30 years of experience as an art educator.

4. Stanislavski Acting Classes

Why act? What does it mean to be an actor? What does one do to become one? In eight classes, explore relaxation, imagination, emotional memory, performance techniques and much more ! Not only that — at the end of the month, you also have the chance to apply these principles through guided scene work and monologue preparation, and create a final performance, and thereby get an answer to the aforementioned questions.

Instructor: Fellow Resident and award-winning theatre & artist Ankit Satti, who has been working in the field of theatre for more than 19 years

5. Drum Circle Sessions

We’ve been conducting drum circle sessions for the past 2 months, and trust us when we say ‘when you come to a drum circle and play with your community, healing happens. You get and give a rhythmical massage that is compounded by the number of people in the circle and the energy they are sharing with each other.’ This February, feel your chest resonate with the drum!

Instructor: Fellow Resident and percussionist Gaurav Maurya, who has performed at Red House twice now - so you may already have seen and heard him.

6. Community Crochet Sessions

Who hasn’t come across those viral crochet bouquets on Instagram and thought, ‘I want one!’? Well, as Miley Cyrus says, now's your chance to "buy make yourselves flowers"! In these hands-on classes, you’ll begin with the basics — learning about essential crochet tools, mastering fundamental stitches, and exploring techniques — and move up to creating a beautiful bouquet of crocheted tulips and lavenders. At the end of the month, you’ll take back the bouquet with you, as well as, have the skills and confidence to tackle a wide range of crochet projects — from scarves and blankets to hats, jewellery, plush toys, and more!

Instructor: Janhvi Sehgal, who has been crocheting for almost 10 years now.
