We present this coming week, 3 of Ingmar Bergman’s absolute masterpieces for your pleasure. Join us at Red House, for cinematic masterpieces that explore the profound themes of existence, faith, human emotion. At the end of each evening, Arjun Shivaji Jain, the Director of Red House, will also be engaging in post-screening discussions about the filmmaker and his films !

The Swedish filmmaker would have turned 106 earlier this month, and we honour his legacy with these timeless films.

Festival Schedule:

25th July | 7pm to 9pm | THE SEVENTH SEAL | Rs 350 per ticket

A knight named Antonius Block returns from the Crusades to find his homeland ravaged by the plague. He encounters Death personified, whom he challenges to a game of chess to delay his own demise and seek answers about faith, existence, and the meaning of life. Experience haunting imagery and philosophical depth. Bergman at his best.

26th July | 7pm to 9pm | WILD STRAWBERRIES | Rs 350 per ticket 

Prof. Isak Borg, an elderly widower, embarks on a road trip to receive an honorary degree. Along the way, he confronts his past, encountering vivid dreams and memories that force him to face his regrets, failures, and the emotional distance he has kept from others. This film delves into themes of aging, mortality, and the search for meaning in one's existence.

27th July | 7pm to 9pm | THE VIRGIN SPRING | Rs 350 per ticket 

The daughter of a devoutly Christian family, Karin, is brutally raped and murdered by a group of herdsmen during her pilgrimage to church. Her father, Töre, and his wife Mareta experience a profound crisis of faith and morality as Töre sets out for vengeance. This film explores complex themes of justice and the clash between religious values and primal instincts.
