Willam Morris

Dear Residents,

How has the last week of March been treating you? Can you feel the sound of crisp leaves beneath your feet slowly dying out as summer slowly but surely approaches us?

We’re back with 2 events this weekend - as we celebrate William Morris’s 190th birthday!

  1. The first being a screening of a British fantasy drama film based on a novel of the same name this Saturday. For more details, head to our Instagram 👀 (https://www.instagram.com/p/C45PbY5SlOo/?img_index=1)

  2. Second, we’re hosting a ‘wall-patterning via stencilling’ workshop inspired by William Morris’s wonderful 19th century wallpapers on Sunday! This will involve attendees creating their own floral stencils, in William Morris’s style itself, and using these stencils to create recurrent organic patterns on various surfaces. In typical Red House fashion, valuable details about the history of patterns, as also the intricacies of stencilling to produce said patterns will be shared.

Taught by Arjun Shivaji Jain - director of Red House and a graduate of Central Saint Martins of the University of Arts London - the workshop will not require attendees to bring any material on their own. The artist, note, has been the first Young Companions’ Representative of the Guild of St George, established by William Morris’s own teacher John Ruskin in 1871.

When: 31st March, 2024
Where: Red House, B-203, Okhla-1
Time: 11.30am to 2.30pm
Price per attendee: Rs 1250

To book your tickets for any or both of these events, write back to us at [email protected]!

Hope to see you at Red House this weekend!

Best regards,
